WHEN SHOULD YOU BE POSTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA? YOUR DEFINITIVE GUIDE ON THE BEST TIMES TO POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media, the ever-evolving behemoth that stops for no-one. We maybe being slightly dramatic when we say that, but it can be a complex and time-consuming beast. One of the age-old questions has potentially has been answered by the social media gods. We now know when is the best time to post on social media is!
You can read all sorts of articles across the internet that all contradict each other, but nothing says it better than good old analytics. The good people at Socialsprout have broken down the best times to post content on to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can now know when to post to get the most interaction and engagement, so you can now stop all the guess work!
These handy little charts (thanks again Socialsprout!) show exactly when the best times to post are to get those lives rolling in. Take a look below;
Looking at the charts, the most popular times across Facebook tend to be between 9am and 3pm mid-week. This is rather naughty, as most people will be sat at their desk working, but we won’t tell if you don’t! So, if you’re looking at getting your posts seen, aim for around lunchtime mid-week, and between 9am and 11am on Saturdays.
Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform in the world with over 1 billion active users each month. This could be one of the reasons why Instagram has a wider window to capture the attention of followers. Wednesday is the top day for users interacting with content, and you’ll find similarly to Facebook, mid-week seems to be the most active time for users to be online. The window of opportunity is however larger with Instagram, as users tend to be actively engaging with content mid-week until around 8pm. Weekends are generally a bit ‘quieter’ around the Instagram universe, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be ignored completely!
Twitter is still a force to be reckoned with and is used by a whole host of different audiences. Users seem to like logging in around 9am to check up on the daily goings on, and this remains strong throughout the weekend too. Evenings aren’t the strongest period to post, but almost anything up until 5pm mid-week is looking good.
In summary, your best option is to aim for mid-week posting between 9am and 12pm. Instagram you’ve got more wiggle room, but at weekends there is less chance of interactions with your followers.
